The Ranch’s Move to Fall

👋 Howdy there, ranchers!

First off, let me introduce myself – my name is Jessica Tremblay, and I am the newly elected director for Design Ranch! As a native Texan and designer in the Austin, TX community, I’m excited and honored to take on the responsibility and look forward to continuing the tradition of getting our hands dirty and reviving our creative spirits. Something we could use more of right now! Don’t worry, Paul hasn’t gone far. He’s still an instrumental part of the DR Board and will be hanging around for the upcoming event in 2021 helping out with workshops.

Step 1: Registration updates

With our move to September 30 – October 3, 2021, we need to know whether you’re staying or going. As we did last time, there are a couple of options available to you:

  1. Roll over your registration and lodging arrangements to the October 2021 date.
  2. Opt out of the October date and receive a full refund on registration and lodging costs (reminder – lodging is done through Lori at Camp Waldemar.)

🔥🔥🔥 We need to know your decision before the end of day November 1, 2020.

After this date, our cancellation policy will go into effect: Cancellations between 11/02/2020 and 04/19/2021 11:59PM CST will receive a 90% refund. After that, cancellations on or before 09/13/2021 11:59AM CST will receive a 50% refund. Any cancellations after 09/13/2021 11:59PM CST will not receive a refund.

Step 2: Lodging updates

If you plan on staying with us for 2021, your lodging assignments will automatically carry over. If you decide to cancel, lodging cancellations are done separately through Lori Appleton at Camp Waldemar. You will need to call or email her directly: lhappleton@hotmail.com or 830-238-6005.

Step 3: Travel updates

We will send out a travel reminder closer to the event. If you purchased airline tickets and are curious as to what your refund/cancellation options are, contact your airline. There are some recent updates via this article.

HOWDY Y’ALL!

 

I have some very important updates for you regarding Design Ranch 2020. After a lot of careful deliberation, AIGA Austin and the Design Ranch Board have decided to postpone the Ranch until next year. The new dates are September 30 – October 3, 2021. This was a difficult decision for us to make. The alarming spread of the coronavirus across the nation, and especially in the state of Texas, made us act in favor of the health and safety of all Design Ranch attendees and Camp Waldemar staff.

What does this mean for you? If you’re currently registered for Design Ranch 2020, you will still have a confirmed spot and lodging for the new dates. If you have already requested a refund from the original April 2020 date and haven’t yet received it, we haven’t forgotten you and will process those refunds as promptly as possible. Remember that your lodging fees are handled directly through Camp Waldemar; AIGA Austin will not be able to refund those fees. If you are undecided about your ability to attend the new dates of September 30 – October 3, 2021, you do not need to act right now. Updates and instructions will follow throughout the winter and spring as we re-tool the event and as the Covid 19 pandemic hopefully slows to a manageable level.

HOWDY Y’ALL!

 

I am writing to give y’all some very important updates. Today, Friday March 13, we received a state-wide disaster declaration for all counties in the state of Texas. Additionally, the AIGA national office has issued some recommendations for spring programming regarding the recent COVID-19 pandemic. For these reasons, we have made the difficult decision to postpone Design Ranch until October 15-18, 2020. This leaves us with heavy hearts and minds, but we feel it’s in the best interest of the health and safety of our ranchers.

 

Step 1. Registration


We’re going to miss seeing our Design Ranch family this spring, however we still want to offer you a couple options regarding this postponement:

You may choose between: 

  1. Roll over your registration and lodging arrangement to the October date
  2. Opt out of the October date and receive a full refund on registration and lodging costs.

We would like to receive your decision before July 31, 2020. For all ranchers committed to the October date, our new cancellation policy will go into effect, meaning cancellations by August 31, 2020 will receive a 50% refund. Cancellations between September 1-30, 2020 will receive a 25% refund. No refunds will be issued after October 1, 2020.

Step 2. Lodging


AFTER filling out our form and confirming your attendance, lodging requests will be handled SEPARATELY. We will pass along our list of cancellations directly to Lori and she will process those refunds separate from registration (AIGA Austin handles registration, Camp Waldemar handles lodging). Lodging assignments and deposits at Camp Waldemar will carry over to the fall unless you request a refund. Step 3. Travel Arrangements


If you have booked airfare to attend, you may be able to reschedule or request a refund free of charge. Airline policies are regularly updating and can be viewed comprehensively via this article
